A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a mother-of-two who went missing on Poppy Day.

Alexandra Morgan was last seen filling up her white Mini Cooper at a Shell garage on Remembrance Sunday at 7.20am, around three miles from her home in Sissinghurst, Kent.

A desperate search was launched for the 34-year-old as she has not been in touch with her family since leaving the garage near Cranbrook, Kent.

Today Kent Police said the investigation is being treated as a murder probe and a man has been arrested.

The 40-year-old man from St Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex, has been arrested on suspicion of murder, police confirmed.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil Kimber, of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, said today: ‘It is completely out of character for Alexandra not to contact her family and we are now treating this case as a potential murder.’

A photo of her white car with a black roof with the registration number MF55 YHM was issued by officers as part of the hunt to find Ms Morgan.

CCTV of Ms Morgan inside the petrol station was also published yesterday (Wed).

Investigators established that on Sunday November 14 and Monday 15 the car made journeys between her home and towards the Hastings area in East Sussex.

Since then there has been no sign of her, with her family extremely worried about her safety

Kent Police as well as officers from Sussex Police are currently carrying out searches in three locations around the Hastings and St Leonards-on-Sea area in a bid to track down Ms Morgan.

Det Ch Insp Kimber added: ‘While we continue our investigation, I would urge anyone who may have seen Alexandra or her white Mini Cooper with a black roof to contact us.

‘If you think you may have seen Alexandra or something suspicious but are not sure, please do not hesitate to call and let us know.’

Ms Morgan is described as being around 5ft 6in, slim, with brown shoulder-length hair.

She was last seen wearing a green quilted knee-length coat, a black top and ripped blue jeans, knee-high black boots and a silver necklace.
