It’s OVER for Supercheap Auto worker: Loyal employee who tried to stop a ‘thief who hid stolen goods in a pram’ QUITS the company – after ‘struggling’ with viral video fame and being deluged with job offers

A SuperCheap Auto worker has quit after video of him confronting a woman allegedly using an empty child’s pram to steal from his store went viral.

The worker was stood down from his position at the retailer after they conducted a review into the incident.

On Friday, Supercheap Auto revealed the man had since decided to leave the company.

‘I can confirm that the team member involved in the incident has decided to leave the business,’ a company spokesman said in a statement.

‘We are continuing to offer support for the team member.’

The statement said a ‘comprehensive review’ had been conducted.

SuperCheap Auto reiterated the company’s policy should not confront suspected shoplifters.

‘These policies and standards, which prohibit confronting suspected shoplifters and physical contact with customers, are designed to protect our team members and customers,’ the spokesman said.
