Virginia realtor is shot dead by 84 year old client who was angry about his sight-unseen purchase in murder-suicide

A Virginia real estate agent was killed by one of his clients after he bought a home sight unseen in what’s being ruled a murder-suicide.

Søren Arn-Oelschlegel, 41, was fatally shot by Albert Baglione, 84, on Friday. Police in the town of Portsmouth arrived at a home on Bolling Road and found Baglione, who said he was armed and had killed Arn-Oelschlegel.

Baglione went back inside that house. Officers heard a gunshot moments later.

A SWAT team then entered the building to find that he had taken his own life, finding both Baglione and Arn-Oelschlegel dead.

A neighbor told reporters that Baglione, an Alabama resident, signed a contract to purchase the home he was found. He signed the deed without seeing it and unhappy with himself.

Arn-Oelschlegel was going to the home because Baglione had called him, angry and wanted to return it. He was trying to reassure Baglione about the purchase.

The real estate agent has been remembered by the local LGBTQ community as a dedicated member.

‘We are heartbroken to announce to our Hampton Roads Pride family that yesterday, Friday, October 8, 2021, Søren Arn-Oelschlegel, our brother, friend, member and volunteer was fatally shot,’ the local nonprofit Hampton Road Pride wrote on their Facebook page. ‘Our love and support goes out to Soren’s family and friends as we struggle to wrap our heads around this devastating loss. Soren’s kind and generous spirit left us too soon.’

The president of Hampton Roads Pride, Rudy Almanzor, said Arn-Oelschlegel was a huge part of the group.

‘He always had tons of energy. I never saw him not smiling, laughing, and wanting to have fun. He worked hard, played hard,’ Almanzor said of Arn-Oelschlegel.

Hampton Roads Pride is holding a candlelight vigil for Arn-Oelschlegel Thursday night.

‘I literally had to read it four to five times and was like, ‘This does not make sense,” Almanzor said. ‘We are here to build up the community, and one of our building blocks is missing.’

Portsmouth’s Major Crimes Unit is still investigating the case.
