A young Australian designer has scored a major career win after world’s biggest pop star Beyoncé wore her design in a new photo shoot for her new album Renaissance .

Bethany Cordwell, who works as a costumier for Queensland Ballet, crafted the black-and-white bodysuit using plastic document folders she’d purchased while working at office supplies retailer Officeworks.

Ms Cordwell spent one month painstakingly sewing 12,000 individually hand-cut plastic shards to a bespoke bodysuit before morphing them into a form-hugging silhouette.

‘The lead time was tight. I wasn’t able to make a custom bodysuit specific to Beyoncé’s measurements due to time constraints. Thankfully they accepted my existing bodysuit which was sent express to LA (Los Angeles).’

Ms Cordwell also discussed her incredible career boost with Hit Network’s Stav, Abby & Matt on Tuesday, telling the team Beyoncé’s management had agreed to purchase the bodusit.

When quizzed on how much the garment is worth, Bethany coyly said: ‘The materials didn’t cost very much, but the work and the time that went into it would have absolutely equated to quite a price.’
