Interior designer sells her Bondi home for a record-breaking $6.2million after buying it for $2.7million two years ago – as she boasts her ‘gamble’ paid off

High-profile interior designer Chloe Matters has made a huge profit after selling her Bondi semi that she purchased for $2.7million just two years ago.

The 30 Denham Street home sold for an astonishing $6.225million, which is a new record price for a semi in the Bondi area and more than double what Chloe paid for it in October 2019.

The Double Bay business owner originally thought she would get between $4million and $5million for the home, and was gobsmacked by the eventual sale price.

‘I buy and flick homes so when I bought this property two years ago it was a gamble,’ Ms Matters told realestate.com.au.

‘Back then I paid $2.7million and I thought I might get $4million or $5million. Never did I think I’d get $6.2million,’ she added. ‘It’s an amazing profit in that time.’

Ms Matters ‘gutted’ the semi and spent upwards of $720,000 on a total renovation.

She replaced every surface in the home, with the exception of two original walls, and replaced the kitchen and bathrooms.

The semi includes four bedrooms, three bathrooms, multiple living areas, a swimming pool, and parking space for two vehicles.

It’s a short walk to Bondi Beach and the local cafés and restaurants.

Ms Matters listed with Joshua Allen of JT Allen real estate, who sold the semi very quickly.

‘I showed the buyers through in the morning and that night it was sold,’ Mr Allen said. ‘They absolutely fell in love with it.’

‘The renovation that Chloe did was unbelievable,’ he added.

Ms Matters is now renovating her next project: a freestanding home in Bondi.

She has previously worked on properties in Bellevue Hill, Stanmore and Potts Point.
