‘It was awkward as hell’: Mel B ‘axed from Adele’s An Audience With special after making sex toy joke during Q&A’

Mel B raised eyebrows during filming for Adele’s An Audience With special as she reportedly made a sex toy joke that was edited out of the broadcast.

The Spice Girls star, 46, was one of several celebrities in attendance at the event and was said to have made an off-colour joke when she stepped up to the microphone to ask Adele a question.

A source told The Sun: ‘She was tasked with asking a question about the best gift Adele had ever received but when the cameras were on her she said she felt silly asking it.

‘Then she made a joke and said she could answer the question for Adele and said it was a vibrator. No one really laughed but Adele made a wise crack about it and moved on.

‘There’s no bad blood or issue between them, ITV just couldn’t air it because not only was it awkward as hell – it was a family show and there would be kids watching.’

Representatives for Mel B and ITV both declined to comment when contacted by MailOnline.

Adele’s TV special was a ratings winner for the channel as 5.4million viewers tuned in to watch the star perform at the London Palladium.

The star performed some of her most well-known hits and new songs Easy On Me and Love Is A Game.

The singer forced to restart hit single Easy On Me after her nerves got the better of her during the show.

During the opening lines of her No.1 track, Adele, who was wearing a stunning glitzy black Louis Vuitton gown by Nicolas Ghesquière, said: ‘One more time, I’m s***ing myself – I’m scared!’

Viewers watched as the backing band abruptly halted and she stopped to sip on a cup of chamomile tea before restarting the track, much to the delight of her audience.

Adele joked that she had asked for hot honey but was given chamomile, as she admitted she ‘wasn’t a diva’ so didn’t ask the crew member to change the beverage.

Celebrity onlookers including Boy George and Emma Thompson cheered from the crowd as they watched Adele resume the song in pitch perfect fashion.

Viewers at home had fun spotting the famous faces in the audience, which also included Dua Lipa, Boy George, Idris Elba and Stormzy.
