The nail-biting thriller has been written by Gangs of London writer Peter Berry.

In a tweet about the upcoming show shared earlier this month, ITV said: ‘ITV has commissioned gripping, nail-biting thriller, The Suspect, starring Aidan Turner, from globally renowned, World Productions.’

It comes after Aidan reportedly married his long-term girlfriend Caitlin Fitzgerald in a secret ceremony in Italy, after a three-year relationship earlier this year.

The screen star is understood to have tied the knot with the American actress, 38, as filming concluded on his latest drama, Leonardo, last August.

According to sources, the couple were eager to wed as soon as their schedules cleared, but kept their nuptials quiet due to their private lifestyles.

An insider said: ‘The couple are both madly in love and couldn’t wait to get hitched when their schedules allowed.’

‘Aidan hasn’t been in a rush to get wed and has very much been waiting for ‘The One’ to come along — and anyone who sees them knows they’re the perfect match.’
