The Project’s Peter Helliar takes a savage swipe at Andrew Bolt over his climate change denial comments

Peter Helliar took a swipe at Andrew Bolt on Tuesday.

Appearing on The Project, he countered claims that the conservative social and political commentator is on the ‘sidelines’ when it comes to climate change.

‘News corps has changed its tune on climate change, and no-one took the news harder than Sky News host Andrew Bolt,’ Peter said.

All fired up: Peter Helliar (pictured) took a swipe at Andrew Bolt over his climate change denial comments during Tuesday night’s episode of The Project

In a clip played on the show, Andrew said: ‘I know I’ve lost the argument, my whole company is against me, I know that.

‘Against these huge players, all the big political parties, my own employer, all the media, big media outlets, what am I?

‘I’m just someone on the sidelines. Someone just howling on the sidelines.’

After the video played, Peter quipped:  ‘Andrew, you’re on TV?’ while his co-hosts burst out laughing.

‘That’s not your inside voice. He’s on the sidelines on TV, maybe time to get off the sidelines and out of the stadium,’ he added.

It’s not the first time the show has taken aim at Bolt, with Waleed Aly slamming his climate change denial in the past.

‘Let me nip this in the bud, Andrew Bolt, before you launch into your whole ‘the planet has stopped warming’ line you’ve been running for the past few years,’ Aly said.

‘Right around the world, developed countries are being encouraged to put an end to subsidies for fossil fuels and invest more in renewable energy,’ he said.

‘We can’t go on denying climate change is real and we can’t go on finding emotional or even incorrect reasons not to act on it.’
