Sam Neill to lead star-studded cast of new TV crime drama The Twelve alongside Marta Dusseldorp, Brooke Satchwell and Kate Mulvany

Sam Neill has been named as the lead actor in the Foxtel original series The Twelve.

Neill, 74, will be starring in the 2022 courtroom drama with Marta Dusseldorp, Brooke Satchwell, Kate Mulvany, and Hazem Shammas.

Based on the 2019 Belgian series De Twaalf, The Twelve is the story of 12 jurors who, while dealing with their own personal struggles, must decide the case of a woman accused of killing a child.

Brian Walsh, Foxtel’s Executive Director of Television, said in a statement: ‘The Twelve will continue Foxtel’s tradition of bringing gripping Australian drama to the screen – this time from the courtroom.’  

‘The team at Warner Bros. International Television in Australia, together with Easy Tiger Productions, have secured an outstanding ensemble cast along with some of the country’s finest creatives to deliver, what we believe, will be one of the most compelling series next year,’ he continued.

The stars of The Twelve were announced at a press conference in Sydney on Thursday.

The Twelve will be produced by Ian Collie, Ally Henville and Rob Gibson.  

Michael Brooks and Hamish Lewis from Warner Bros. and Liz Watts from Spirit Pictures will be executive producers.

Executive Producers for the Foxtel Group are Brian Walsh and Penny Win.

Sam’s last role was a voice in the children’s movie Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway.

The Jurassic Park star was also in several recent Australian films, including Rams, Ride Like a Girl and Palm Beach.

He is set to appear in Thor: Love and Thunder, Assassin Club and Jurassic World: Dominion next year.

Production for The Twelve will begin next week. The series is set for release in 2022.
