Arsenal fans attack Holding and Cedric before calling out referee Tierney for ‘ruining the game’

‘Rob Holding is a disgrace and Cedric can’t play right-back’: Gunners fans take to social media to attack the Arsenal duo and call out referee Paul Tierney for ‘ruining the game’ after north London derby disaster

Arsenal fans have taken to social media to criticse Cedric Soares and Rob Holding for their performance in Thursday night’s north London derby at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

Arsenal’s hopes of securing a Champions League spot were hindered after Antonio Conte’s side annihilated the Gunners 3-0 following Cedric’s clumsy challenge and Holding’s red card.

Arsenal fans were less than impressed with their side’s performance and took to social media to make their thoughts clear. They also called out referee Paul Tierney for ‘ruining the game’.

Harry Kane put Tottenham ahead from the penalty spot in the 22nd minute after Son Heung-min was fouled by Cedric. Shortly after Arsenal reduced to 10 men when Rob Holding was shown a second yellow card for a foul on Son.

As a result, Tottenham went on to score two more goals and win the game 3-0 thanks to Kane and Son adding to their goal tally.

Tottenham were ecstatic with the result. However, Arsenal fans were less impressed with the scoreline and took to social media to share their thoughts.

One supporter took to social media to say: ‘Tavares has been terrible recently and Cedric can’t play RB, let alone LB. It was the right set up. We played shit and lost. That’s it.’

Another added: ‘I love Mikel so much buh today’s game approach was a bit poor from him we were supposed to be calm and defensive.. prior to the first goal we were giving the a lot of spaces mostly xhaka in mid, that said it was suicidal to put holding close to Cedric that was an error’.

While one said: ‘Cedric and Holding in the same match. What do you expect? Anyways remember top 4 are still in our hands tbf. Let’s win against Newcastle and then Everton.’

Arsenal fan and celebrity personality Piers Morgan also added his input. He said: ‘Arteta can moan as much as he wants but we bottled it tonight, and in a North London Derby that’s unforgivable.’

Another fan wrote: ‘Anyway Rob holding is a disgrace. He’s a big man, he knew what was at stake but let the occasion get to his head. Big big weirdo. Hopefully guys will stop hyping mid because he can get his head on a few balls playing in a back 5 for the last 10 mins of a game.’

Referee Paul Tierney had plenty of decisions to make during the game and even awarded Spurs a penalty – which was converted by Kane – early in the first.

Tierney then went on to send off Gunners defender Holding in the 33rd minute of the game after he clattered into Son Heung-min with his elbow.

Fans were not impressed with the decision and took to social media to criticise the match official for his decision making.

One social media supporter said: ‘Paul Tierney is a disgrace. Ruined the game because doesn’t understand football.’

Another added: ‘I told you Paul Tierney shouldn’t be allowed to referee an Arsenal game’, while one wrote ‘Paul Tierney wanting to be centre of attention no surprise. Absolute disgrace.’

As it stands, Tottenham remain a point behind Arsenal in pursuit of the top four but can go ahead of their rivals with a win over Burnley on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side are not back in action until their trip to Newcastle on Monday.
