Medical emergency in the crowd at Tottenham v Chelsea game causes lengthy delay

Carabao Cup semi-final between Tottenham and Chelsea is suspended for several minutes because of a medical emergency in the crowd

A medical emergency in the crowd led to there being eight minutes of added time at the end of the second half as Tottenham faced Chelsea in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-finals.

The incident occurred in the 87th minute of the game at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium. Following a lengthy delay, play then resumed. 

A tweet from Tottenham’s official Twitter account read: ‘Everyone at the club sends their best wishes to the supporter who was taken ill.’

Chelsea progressed to the final after winning 1-0 on the night (courtesy of an Antonio Rudiger goal) and 3-0 on aggregate.
